There's much you can do to alleviate the discomfort. If none of the tips below help, don't hesitate to contact your midwife for assistance. In extreme cases (0.3-3%), a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, which requires different treatment, may occur.
- Eat small, frequent meals
- Try drinking carbonated water
- Have a carbohydrate snack for a snack, such as fruit or a sandwich
- Eat something before getting out of bed after sleeping
- Consume cooked, non-spicy food
- Avoid overly fatty food
- Stay well-hydrated, especially if vomiting frequently
- Practice yoga
